I can help you feel lasting relief from whatever flavour anxiety you have.

Hi! I'm Sam. Nice to meet you.

Can you believe I began my private practice having never had received therapy myself? Yes, me a mental health professional who has been in this field for a decade, and I had zero experience as an actual client, on the receiving end of therapy.

A little bit like my father who was a builder and plumber, but our house was always the last on his to-do list.

What I do know is that I have spent so much time and training learning how to provide a great experience when it comes to counselling that when it came time to receive my own therapy, I realised then just how transformative vulnerability can be in therapy.

Being in front of a therapist is hard, right? I totally get it, because I have been there.

That’s why it is not enough for me to provide great therapy for you. Yes, I will be able to listen nonjudgmentally and guide self-discovery. But I also want to create a safe and cozy sanctuary that is equally as accepting of your joy as your struggles. I want us to create a therapeutic relationship that supports the essence of you and allows your authentic self to shine. I want you to leave your sessions having felt deeply seen, heard and understood.

A bit about me.

  • Even though my wardrobe is full of clothes, I tend to wear the same five outfits on rotation.

  • My favourite comedian right now is Ali Wong.

  • I suck at handstands, keeping plants alive, and being ready on time.

  • Cooking and vibing in the kitchen with my husband, our son and dogs is my favourite time of day.

Before we met...

You’re tired of second-guessing yourself. Anxious one minute, numb the next. You feel like you're either too much or not enough — and honestly, it’s exhausting. You crave peace, but your thoughts won’t shut up long enough to find it.

You lose your cool with your kid over something tiny, then feel guilty for hours. You re-play conversations in your head, wondering if you said the wrong thing. You start new routines on Monday and abandon them by Thursday — not because you don’t care, but because you’re running on fumes.

You’ve called yourself “lazy” or “undisciplined” more times than you’d like to admit. You want to change, but it feels like dragging yourself through mud — and sometimes it seems easier to just stay stuck. You've read the books, listened to the podcasts, and you're still thinking… “Why can’t I actually do the thing?”

The shifts that you'll experience.

You finally feel like you can breathe again. There’s more clarity. More compassion. More you. You feel steadier — like your emotions aren't calling the shots anymore.

You pause before reacting. You speak up in a way that makes you proud. You catch yourself being kind to yourself without even trying. You leave a stressful situation and realize you didn’t fall apart. (Win!)

You’re saying things like, “I handled that way better than I used to.” You feel more hopeful — not in a fluffy, fake way, but because something deep inside is shifting. You’re building confidence that doesn’t rely on having a perfect day. And you’re realizing… you’re not broken. You’re growing.

What it's like to work with me.

In our sessions, you feel seen and safe. You laugh (yes, even while crying). You feel grounded and gently challenged. You leave feeling lighter — like something clicked, even if you can’t quite explain it.

Sometimes we go deep into family patterns or body image struggles. Sometimes we’re talking about how bedtime with your toddler ground you down. Either way, we’re working with your real life, not some theoretical version of it. You walk away with insight and an actual plan for what to try next.

I bring warmth, humour, and a whole toolkit of proven approaches to our work. Together, we’ll untangle emotional knots using CBT, IFS, DBT, EMDR, and nervous system-informed care — whatever fits best for you. I specialize in boundaries, anxiety, relationship dynamics, food and body image healing, and parenting support. My background spans nursing, public health, and therapy — so I get how complex this all is, especially when you’re the one everyone else leans on.
